Current Position: Senior Director (Farms, Land and Smallholdings and Professional Valuations)

Stuart has been part of the management team of Luscombe Maye since 1997 and became Senior Partner in 2009. Now, as Senior Partner, his role is to ensure the smooth running of the firm across all the eight offices but also to look to the future development and progression of the business. Stuart is qualified as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor, Registered Valuer and is a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.

Qualifications: MRICS, FAAV

Experience: Prior to joining Luscombe Maye, Stuart worked at DEFRA (formerly known as MAFF) and Cluttons. Stuart joined Luscombe Maye in 1995 having also trained with them under the principal in 1993 to gain his professional qualifications.

Interests: Stuart am very interested in sport and would rather play it than watch it. Work and family commitments allow me time to run, cycle, swim and occasionally play a game of squash. Holidays with some kind of activity built in are of particular interest such as skiing or watersports. I am also very interested in travelling generally to experience different cultures, foods and ways of life. Our last holiday was to France with our children where we spent a great deal of time cycling and enjoying French bread, cheese and wine.”

Current Position: Director

Experience: Tom graduated from the Royal Agricultural University and joined Luscombe Maye in September 2018. Since then, Tom passed his RICS Assessment of Professional Competence to become a Chartered Surveyor and a Registered Valuer. Thereafter, Tom became a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers and achieved the 6th highest national mark in the process. Tom followed this up by becoming an equity Director of the firm in 2024. Tom is involved in a wide range of professional work including grants and subsidy applications, farms and land sales, landlord and tenant matters, professional valuations, renewables and compensation claims.

Background: Tom originates from an agricultural background with his parents working on the 250-acre family run farm situated near Exeter. Having actively worked on the sheep and beef farm enterprise, Tom’s knowledge of this sector is very suitable for the role of a Rural Chartered Surveyor & Registered Valuer.

Interests: Tom has a great interest in several sports, most notably: football, rugby and formula 1. He enjoys spending time with his family and helping out on the family farm. Moreover, Tom was an active member of Whimple and Broadclyst Young Farmers Club and was previously the chairman of East Devon Young Farmers.

Current Position: Director. Head of Agriculture and Rural Planning Department

Amanda has been the Partner in charge of the Totnes office since becoming a Partner with Luscombe Maye in 2006. She heads up the Agriculture and Rural Planning Department based in Totnes and is responsible for a team of rural professionals, specialising in agricultural and rural planning advice and applications, Basic Payment Scheme, grants for subsidies and general agricultural/land management advice.

After joining Luscombe Maye in June 1995 as a professional assistant to one of the Partners, she moved up the ranks after gaining her professional qualifications, becoming an Associate Partner before becoming a full Partner.

Qualifications: BSc (Hons), FAAV, MBIAC

Experience: Amanda has an Honours Degree in Agriculture with Countryside Management from Seale Hayne Agricultural College, is a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers, is on the CAAV Council and is also a Member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants.

Amanda is married to a farmer and is also involved in a successful holiday letting business and can therefore put a good deal of experience behind her professional advice.

Interests: Amanda really loves family life at home on the farm with her husband and children; when not being a wife/mother or in the office, she loves nothing more than spending hours in the kitchen producing lunch/supper for lots of people. She has recently learnt to weld and has completed a life-size sculpture of a horse in scrap metal which is now “at grass” at her home.

Amanda has a long–standing passion for horse racing particularly steeple-chasing and Point to Points and spends any spare time at the races.

Current Position: Senior Farms & Land Sales Coordinator

Experience: Harriet grew up in the South Hams, and then moved away to study Human Geography at Cardiff University, graduating in 2019. After spending a ski season in Val ‘Isère, she moved back home and re-established her roots of farming and the countryside, and has now joined the South Brent office, assisting the rural professionals.

Interests: Harriet enjoys getting outside and keeping active. She plays Netball in the local Plymouth League and more recently rows for the Yealm Gig Club and has started taking part in regattas. When not playing sports, she enjoys spending time with friends in the South Hams, as it is such a beautiful place to live.

Current Position: Senior Rural Chartered Surveyor

Experience: Claire began her career in Luscombe Maye’s South Brent office while studying at Seale Hayne for her degree in Rural Estate Management.  Following completion of her degree Claire moved to work on the Devon County Farms Estate and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer in 2009.  After 13 years as Land Agent on the County Farms Estate Claire then spent almost 5 years working in private practice for a firm in North Devon.  Claire’s background in estate management and landlord and tenant matters has been complemented more recently with experience in rural planning, valuation, grants and compensation claims.

Background: Claire grew up on a small dairy farm in the South Hams. She is married and has two children. The family home is a beef and sheep farm near Chudleigh where the whole family are involved, especially for TB testing!

Interests: Claire has a semi-retired horse and a crazy spaniel who loves exploring the countryside.  She also spends time on the farm or assisting with the family holiday cottage business in Wembury as well as cheering on the sidelines at weekends watching her son play football.

Current Position: Chartered Surveyor

Antony works in residential and commercial agency at our Kingsbridge office as well as performing associated professional work for a variety of clients. Antony is a registered valuer and member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Qualifications: MRICS

Experience: After initially gaining experience with a national firm of estate agents in Bath and Bristol, Antony moved to the South West in 1983 working in the residential and commercial sectors in Torbay before joining Luscombe Maye in 1990.

Interests: Antony has two children and enjoys spending time with the family and making the most of the opportunities this area has to offer including golf, tennis, walking and sailing and takes a keen interest in and supports the local and regional rugby teams.

Current Position: Associate, Agricultural and Rural Planning Department

Lucinda joined Luscombe Maye in January 2017 and was made an Associate in 2020.

She works alongside Amanda Burden primarily working on rural and agricultural planning matters. The team specialise in agricultural, equestrian and rural planning advice and applications. In addition to planning, Lucinda undertakes Basic Payment Scheme applications and land agency.

Experience: Lucinda was brought up on a working family farm in Dorset before studying Rural Land Management at the Royal Agricultural College. Having graduated with BSc (Hons) Lucinda worked for a national firm specialising in the sale of farms and equestrian property. She relocated to Devon and worked for a local rural property developer on the edge of Dartmoor before joining the agricultural and rural planning team at Luscombe Maye. Lucinda enjoys combining her training and experience to achieve the bests results for her clients.

Interests: Lucinda has a strong equestrian background and has ridden throughout her life. She has competed internationally as an event rider and continues to take part in a variety of country sports. Lucinda enjoys following the local hunt and riding on the Moor.

Experience: Chloe grew up as part of a farming family in West Devon. Having moved away to gain her BSc in Geography and Sports Sciences at Loughborough University, she has returned and joined Luscombe Maye as a Rural Planning Graduate. Whilst with Luscombe and Maye Chloe is going to further her studies, taking a Masters in Town Planning at the University of Plymouth to become RTPI accredited.

Interests: In her spare time Chloe captains her local cricket team, playing games regularly throughout the summer for multiple sides. Cricket has taken Chloe around the country representing Devon, as well as to South Africa on tour. She also enjoys going to her local Beach in North Devon to read and swim, and during the winter months, she loves walking the dog over the moors around Okehampton with her family.

Phoebe joined Luscombe Maye in 2017 and was involved in a wide range of

In 2018 Phoebe joined the Agricultural and Rural Planning Department full time where she is part of a very experienced, skilled and knowledgeable team. Phoebe works alongside Amanda Burden and is involved in preparing and submitting planning applications including agricultural buildings, temporary and permanent agricultural dwellings, equestrian buildings and barn conversions, along with rural diversification projects.

Experience: Phoebe is from an agricultural background and grew up on her family farm near Kingsbridge. Phoebe has a wide knowledge of the South Hams and the surrounding areas and a passion for helping farmers and landowners fulfil their planning aspirations.

Before starting at Luscombe Maye Phoebe lived in Australia for two years where she spent her time travelling and attending university.

Interests: Outside of work Phoebe enjoys spending time with her family and watching rugby. In the summer she enjoys spending time on the beach, in particular South Milton Sands, where she loves to paddle board.

Current Position: Rural Planning Engineer

Jerry has joined the Agricultural and Rural Planning Department and is part of a very experienced, skilled and knowledgeable team. Jerry works alongside Amanda Burden and is involved in preparing and submitting planning applications including agricultural buildings, temporary and permanent agricultural dwellings, equestrian buildings and barn conversions, along with rural diversification projects. As a Structural Engineer Jerry also brings a broader construction knowledge to the team.

Experience: Jerry is from a farming background with a small but diverse organic farm on the south devon coast. As a civil and structural engineer, he has worked in and around development and construction for many (thirty plus) years with particular experience in agricultural and commercial building design and development and local authority project planning and development. Jerry enjoys combining practical and professional knowledge and his farming and development experience to produce the bests results for our clients.

Interests: As a father of three busy teenagers and with a teacher wife who also runs a farm school plus running our organic farm and campsite etc., time off is a rare and precious commodity, but I thoroughly enjoy family, friends, our lovely part of the world, tinkering with our collection of old vehicles and kit and the very occasional surf.

Kash joined Luscombe Maye at the beginning of 2013 and provides support to the skilled and knowledgeable Agricultural and Rural Planning team. Office-based, Kash is the link between our clients and members of the team.

Experience: After 20 years in London working in the City  with the Financial Times and the international news agency, Reuters, Kash took her “gap year” and sailed the Atlantic in a Tall Ship and has worked her way west, moving to Devon in 2003.

Interests: Kash has been involved with the Yealmpton Show since 2006 and is one of the Chief Stewards for Trade Stands. She is a keen gardener and she enjoys country pursuits.

Experience: Phoebe grew up working on her family’s beef & sheep farm in South Devon, developing a strong foundation in agricultural. She went on to study Rural Land Management at the Royal Agricultural University, graduating before joining Luscombe Maye in June 2024. Phoebe is currently working towards becoming qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer in the upcoming years.

Interests: Phoebe is an active member of Totnes Young Farmers and is the current Sports and Social chairman for Devon YFC. In her spare time she enjoys showjumping, baking and helping out on her family farm.

Experience: Having worked in the South Brent office as both Administrator and Sales Negotiator since July 2007, Andrea has recently taken on the role as Administrator for the Rural Professional Department in Kingsbridge.

Andrea has worked in Estate Agency for the past 20 years primarily as a secretary/administrator both in Canada for a large national ‘Real Estate’ company in their commercial department and in the South Hams for two small independent Estate Agents before joining Luscombe Maye in 2006 in their Kingsbridge office as secretary to Stuart Hext.

Interests: Living in Ivybridge, I enjoy being within easy reach of the Moors which I frequently visit on the weekends with my family and Westie, where we enjoy some superb walks and magnificent far reaching views. We are also lucky to be close to some fabulous beaches, our personal favourite being the beach at Bantham.

When I have the time, I also enjoy running, reading and watching a good epic movie.

Current Position: Rural Planner

Experience: Naomi has 10 years of experience working in planning both in the public and private sector in Devon as well as a recent period in Scotland working in the idyllic Outer Hebrides on the Isle of Lewis. Naomi has a masters degree in Planning from Plymouth University and an undergraduate degree from Bangor University in Sustainable Development. Naomi has now moved back to Devon and is keen to get stuck into rural planning in Devon and the South West; helping farmers and landowners with a variety of planning matters. Naomi loves meeting new people and finding out how her skills can help achieve the planning goals they have.  She particularly enjoys a barn conversion project!

Interests: Naomi has a rescue dog called Bow who she enjoys taking for walks. She enjoys reading, volunteering, walking, sea swimming and exploring new places.

Experience: Olivia grew up on a family beef and sheep farm located in Devon. Olivia is predominantly based in the South Brent office as an Apprentice Rural Surveyor and is doing the 5-year apprenticeship course at Harper Adams University.

Interests: Olivia enjoys all things outdoors. In her spare time she helps with relief milking and likes work on the family farm. Olivia is an active member of Withleigh Young Farmers and is doing the role of secretary for the 24/25 year.
