Current Position: Senior Director (Farms, Land and Smallholdings and Professional Valuations)
Stuart has been part of the management team of Luscombe Maye since 1997 and became Senior Partner in 2009. Now, as Senior Partner, his role is to ensure the smooth running of the firm across all the eight offices but also to look to the future development and progression of the business. Stuart is qualified as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor, Registered Valuer and is a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.
Qualifications: MRICS, FAAV
Experience: Prior to joining Luscombe Maye, Stuart worked at DEFRA (formerly known as MAFF) and Cluttons. Stuart joined Luscombe Maye in 1995 having also trained with them under the principal in 1993 to gain his professional qualifications.
Interests: Stuart am very interested in sport and would rather play it than watch it. Work and family commitments allow me time to run, cycle, swim and occasionally play a game of squash. Holidays with some kind of activity built in are of particular interest such as skiing or watersports. I am also very interested in travelling generally to experience different cultures, foods and ways of life. Our last holiday was to France with our children where we spent a great deal of time cycling and enjoying French bread, cheese and wine.”
Current Position: Director
Experience: Tom graduated from the Royal Agricultural University and joined Luscombe Maye in September 2018. Since then, Tom passed his RICS Assessment of Professional Competence to become a Chartered Surveyor and a Registered Valuer. Thereafter, Tom became a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers and achieved the 6th highest national mark in the process. Tom followed this up by becoming an equity Director of the firm in 2024. Tom is involved in a wide range of professional work including grants and subsidy applications, farms and land sales, landlord and tenant matters, professional valuations, renewables and compensation claims.
Background: Tom originates from an agricultural background with his parents working on the 250-acre family run farm situated near Exeter. Having actively worked on the sheep and beef farm enterprise, Tom’s knowledge of this sector is very suitable for the role of a Rural Chartered Surveyor & Registered Valuer.
Interests: Tom has a great interest in several sports, most notably: football, rugby and formula 1. He enjoys spending time with his family and helping out on the family farm. Moreover, Tom was an active member of Whimple and Broadclyst Young Farmers Club and was previously the chairman of East Devon Young Farmers.
Current Position: Chartered Surveyor
Antony works in residential and commercial agency at our Kingsbridge office as well as performing associated professional work for a variety of clients. Antony is a registered valuer and member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Qualifications: MRICS
Experience: After initially gaining experience with a national firm of estate agents in Bath and Bristol, Antony moved to the South West in 1983 working in the residential and commercial sectors in Torbay before joining Luscombe Maye in 1990.
Interests: Antony has two children and enjoys spending time with the family and making the most of the opportunities this area has to offer including golf, tennis, walking and sailing and takes a keen interest in and supports the local and regional rugby teams.
Current Position: Senior Rural Chartered Surveyor
Experience: Claire began her career in Luscombe Maye’s South Brent office while studying at Seale Hayne for her degree in Rural Estate Management. Following completion of her degree Claire moved to work on the Devon County Farms Estate and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer in 2009. After 13 years as Land Agent on the County Farms Estate Claire then spent almost 5 years working in private practice for a firm in North Devon. Claire’s background in estate management and landlord and tenant matters has been complemented more recently with experience in rural planning, valuation, grants and compensation claims.
Background: Claire grew up on a small dairy farm in the South Hams. She is married and has two children. The family home is a beef and sheep farm near Chudleigh where the whole family are involved, especially for TB testing!
Interests: Claire has a semi-retired horse and a crazy spaniel who loves exploring the countryside. She also spends time on the farm or assisting with the family holiday cottage business in Wembury as well as cheering on the sidelines at weekends watching her son play football.
