Current Position: Associate Director
Experience: Matthew has gained 30 years’ experience in the property industry working for a high quality independent estate agent and most recently as a Regional Director for a large estate agency. Matthew has a reputation for putting his customers at the heart of his business and genuinely supporting and guiding homeowners through what can often be a stressful transaction.
Interests: Matthew and his family live in Totnes and his children attend the local primary school. He is passionate about canoeing and enjoys exploring the wonderful countryside that we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep.
Current Position: Senior Branch Manager
Experience: When Maria moved to become a sales negotiator, she took a wealth of knowledge of the legal process for selling and buying with her, something which her customers have found very useful. Maria has lived in the South Hams all her life and has exceptional local knowledge which she uses to assist all our clients in their sales and their searches. With her varied knowledge in the selling and buying process, Maria genuinely enjoys supporting and guiding homeowners through what can often be a stressful transaction and she does this with a warm friendly manner and will be available to provide the best service possible.
Interests: Maria loves the outdoors and in her free time she can usually be found up on the moors going for a walk or out at sea on her paddleboard. She will also spend some of her free time playing both golf and football and likes to find time to enjoy a trip up the mountains to go skiing.

Experience: Hannah began her estate agency career at the start of 2021 after previous experience in customer service. Hannah has grown up on her family beef and sheep farm in South Devon, allowing her to develop a wealth of knowledge of the local area. With Hannah’s rural knowledge she has applied this to her work in residential property and enjoys promoting the lifestyle that the South Hams has to offer.
Interests: In her spare time, Hannah is an active member of Kingsbridge Young Farmers and had been the Chairman of the club. She also enjoys playing netball and helping on the family farm, especially when it’s lambing season!
Current Position: Sales Negotiator
Experience: Charlotte brings with her a strong background in customer service, negotiation, and building positive relationships. Throughout her career she has developed excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to remain professional under pressure. While new to the estate agency world, she is eager to learn and confident that her transferable skills, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic will support her success in the role and enable her to make a positive contribution to the company.
Interests: In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys taking her dogs for long walks on Dartmoor or at local beaches, horse riding around the countryside, and heading out for cosy pub lunches with family and friends. Charlotte is also a member of Newton Abbot Young Farmers Club and gets involved with their active programme.
Current Position: Sales Negotiator
Experience: Rebecca brings over 10 years of experience in architecture, having worked as an Architectural Technician and holding a Degree in Construction. This background gives her a strong understanding of building design and the property sector. Alongside her professional experience, Rebecca has gained a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills, further enhancing her communication and interpersonal abilities.
Keen to take a more hands-on role working directly with clients, Rebecca joined the friendly South Brent team as a Sales Negotiator, where she enjoys guiding people through their property journey
Interests: Outside of work, Rebecca is a member of the Totnes Harmony choir and enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, as well as attending theatre performances and live concerts.
Current Position: Senior Director (Farms, Land and Smallholdings and Professional Valuations)
Stuart has been part of the management team of Luscombe Maye since 1997 and became Senior Partner in 2009. Now, as Senior Partner, his role is to ensure the smooth running of the firm across all the eight offices but also to look to the future development and progression of the business. Stuart is qualified as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor, Registered Valuer and is a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.
Qualifications: MRICS, FAAV
Experience: Prior to joining Luscombe Maye, Stuart worked at DEFRA (formerly known as MAFF) and Cluttons. Stuart joined Luscombe Maye in 1995 having also trained with them under the principal in 1993 to gain his professional qualifications.
Interests: Stuart am very interested in sport and would rather play it than watch it. Work and family commitments allow me time to run, cycle, swim and occasionally play a game of squash. Holidays with some kind of activity built in are of particular interest such as skiing or watersports. I am also very interested in travelling generally to experience different cultures, foods and ways of life. Our last holiday was to France with our children where we spent a great deal of time cycling and enjoying French bread, cheese and wine.”
Current Position: Director
Experience: Tom graduated from the Royal Agricultural University and joined Luscombe Maye in September 2018. Since then, Tom passed his RICS Assessment of Professional Competence to become a Chartered Surveyor and a Registered Valuer. Thereafter, Tom became a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers and achieved the 6th highest national mark in the process. Tom followed this up by becoming an equity Director of the firm in 2024. Tom is involved in a wide range of professional work including grants and subsidy applications, farms and land sales, landlord and tenant matters, professional valuations, renewables and compensation claims.
Background: Tom originates from an agricultural background with his parents working on the 250-acre family run farm situated near Exeter. Having actively worked on the sheep and beef farm enterprise, Tom’s knowledge of this sector is very suitable for the role of a Rural Chartered Surveyor & Registered Valuer.
Interests: Tom has a great interest in several sports, most notably: football, rugby and formula 1. He enjoys spending time with his family and helping out on the family farm. Moreover, Tom was an active member of Whimple and Broadclyst Young Farmers Club and was previously the chairman of East Devon Young Farmers.
Current Position: Senior Rural Chartered Surveyor
Experience: Claire began her career in Luscombe Maye’s South Brent office while studying at Seale Hayne for her degree in Rural Estate Management. Following completion of her degree Claire moved to work on the Devon County Farms Estate and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer in 2009. After 13 years as Land Agent on the County Farms Estate Claire then spent almost 5 years working in private practice for a firm in North Devon. Claire’s background in estate management and landlord and tenant matters has been complemented more recently with experience in rural planning, valuation, grants and compensation claims.
Background: Claire grew up on a small dairy farm in the South Hams. She is married and has two children. The family home is a beef and sheep farm near Chudleigh where the whole family are involved, especially for TB testing!
Interests: Claire has a semi-retired horse and a crazy spaniel who loves exploring the countryside. She also spends time on the farm or assisting with the family holiday cottage business in Wembury as well as cheering on the sidelines at weekends watching her son play football.
Current Position: Senior Farms & Land Sales Coordinator
Experience: Harriet grew up in the South Hams, and then moved away to study Human Geography at Cardiff University, graduating in 2019. After spending a ski season in Val ‘Isère, she moved back home and re-established her roots of farming and the countryside, and has now joined the South Brent office, assisting the rural professionals.
Interests: Harriet enjoys getting outside and keeping active. She plays Netball in the local Plymouth League and more recently rows for the Yealm Gig Club and has started taking part in regattas. When not playing sports, she enjoys spending time with friends in the South Hams, as it is such a beautiful place to live.
Current Position: Senior Administrator, Country Homes, Land, Farms and Small Holdings, Kingsbridge
Experience: Having worked in the South Brent office as both Administrator and Sales Negotiator since July 2007, Andrea has recently taken on the role as Administrator for the Rural Professional Department in Kingsbridge.
Andrea has worked in Estate Agency for the past 20 years primarily as a secretary/administrator both in Canada for a large national ‘Real Estate’ company in their commercial department and in the South Hams for two small independent Estate Agents before joining Luscombe Maye in 2006 in their Kingsbridge office as secretary to Stuart Hext.
Interests: Living in Ivybridge, I enjoy being within easy reach of the Moors which I frequently visit on the weekends with my family and Westie, where we enjoy some superb walks and magnificent far reaching views. We are also lucky to be close to some fabulous beaches, our personal favourite being the beach at Bantham.
When I have the time, I also enjoy running, reading and watching a good epic movie.
Current position: Apprentice Rural Surveyor
Experience: Olivia grew up on a family beef and sheep farm located in Devon. Olivia is predominantly based in the South Brent office as an Apprentice Rural Surveyor and is doing the 5-year apprenticeship course at Harper Adams University.
Interests: Olivia enjoys all things outdoors. In her spare time she helps with relief milking and likes work on the family farm. Olivia is an active member of Withleigh Young Farmers and is doing the role of secretary for the 24/25 year.
Experience: Andy joined the Luscombe Maye Lettings Team in August 2017, bringing with him a wealth of experience from the fast-paced, ever-evolving Student Lettings market. Known for his adaptability and passion for delivering exceptional service, Andy has thrived in dynamic and challenging environments, and has driven the Lettings department to be a market-leader in the field which they operate in.
Key Achievements: Born in Cape Town, Andy’s life has been shaped by frequent moves, giving him a unique perspective on the lettings process & life in general. After emigrating to Henley-On-Thames, relocating to the Isle of Man, and then to Portugal, he finally settled in Cornwall to attend university. Graduating in 2013 with a second-class honours in Editorial Photography, Andy dove into the Student Lettings market and within just two years, he had risen to the role of Business Manager at a lettings company in the South West managing upwards of 400 units across Devon & Cornwall. His move to Devon in 2015 marked a new chapter in his career, where he continues to build on his successes and proudly calls South Hams “home”. Under Andy’s leadership, he has played an integral role in streamlining operations and growing the lettings portfolio, cementing his reputation as a highly driven and successful individual.
Interests: Outside of work, Andy has a deep passion for adventure, with the sea being like a second home to him. His love for the water is firmly rooted in powerboating, but he’s eager to broaden his horizons by venturing into sailing and scuba diving. These activities fuel his sense of exploration and connection to the ocean, further enhancing his lifelong passion for all things maritime. Andy is joined on his adventures by his Wife and Son, plus 2 long-haired Dachshunds called Oscar & Heidi.
Current Position: Assistant Branch Manager
Experience: Ellie joined the lettings team in July 2024 and has two prior years of experience having worked for a corporate letting agent in Plymouth. Ellie’s passion for the industry propelled from completing her law degree back in 2020 and can enjoy using her training to support landlords and tenants in a very busy market.
Prior to lettings, Ellie has 8 years of experience in various roles (legal and retail) so is comfortable with fast paced environments and prides herself on her personable and supportive approach.
Interests: Outside of work Ellie and her husband are kept busy with their two young boys who love exploring Devon and Cornwall.
Current Position: Portfolio Property Manager
Experience: With over 13 years of experience in residential lettings, Rebecca brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to the Luscombe Maye team. She has a strong background in property management, compliance, and customer service, and is passionate about delivering a high standard of care to both landlords and tenants.
Rebecca has worked extensively across Plymouth and the South Hams, managing a wide range of residential portfolios. She is highly experienced in all aspects of tenancy management and, as a Member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (MARLA), stays up to date with the latest legislation to ensure best practice at all times. Her key strengths include clear communication, effective problem-solving, and building trusted relationships with clients and contractors.
Interests: Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her young family, catching up with friends, and exploring the Devon coastline. She also loves going on holidays, whether it’s a sunny getaway or a countryside break and can often be found out walking or trying to coax her reluctant whippet off the sofa.
Experience: Jenny joined the lettings team in November 2023, bringing 10 years’ property management experience gained in a varied role managing privately owned apartment blocks, in and around Plymouth.
Prior to that, Jenny enjoyed a 30 year career in banking, first in branch and Head Office roles in London and the South East before relocating to Devon in 2005 to a Commercial Sales Manager role. Through interactions with business owners across Devon and Cornwall, Jenny gained a crash course in the unique challenges and opportunities presented by this beautiful region.
Interests: When not working, Jenny enjoys country and coastal walks, spending time with her two grown up daughters and baby grandson, gardening and DIY at home and attending as many live music concerts as possible.
