Entrants must state where their photograph was taken and why the location is special to them.
All entries must be the entrant’s own original photographic work. The entrant must own the copyright and have all necessary rights and permissions to submit the photograph.
The Promoter reserves the right to request further information about a photograph’s location or ownership where reasonably necessary to verify eligibility.
6. Image quality and format
Photographs taken on cameras or mobile phones are welcome, provided they are of suitable quality for consideration.
Website uploads must comply with the file-format and size limits stated on the entry form.
If selected as the winner, the entrant must be able to supply a high-resolution original image suitable for print.
The winning photograph may be cropped, resized or adjusted as reasonably necessary to fit the portrait-format cover of the 2027 Tide Timetables, while preserving the integrity of the image.
7. Judging
Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by the Promoter.
The panel will consider:
  • Photographic quality and composition.
  • Sense of place and connection to the South Hams coastline.
  • Atmosphere, impact and visual appeal.
  • Suitability for the portrait-format cover of the 2027 Tide Timetables.
The winner will be selected on the merits of the photograph. Likes, shares, comments and other social media engagement will not determine the result.
The judges’ decision will be final, subject to applicable law.
The Promoter reserves the right not to select a winner if no entries are considered suitable.
8. Prize
The winner will receive:
  • The opportunity to have their photograph featured on the cover of the 2027 Tide Timetables, with a credit to the photographer.
  • A £50 hamper brimming with the very best of local food and drink.
The prize is not transferable and no cash alternative will be offered.
The Promoter will confirm arrangements for delivery or collection of the hamper with the winner.
9. Winner notification
The winner will be contacted using the contact details or social media account provided with their entry.
The winner must respond within the timeframe specified in the notification and provide the high-resolution photograph and any required written permissions.
If the winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the stated timeframe, is found to be ineligible or cannot provide the required image and permissions, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
The Promoter may announce the winner through its website and social media channels, subject to applicable data protection requirements and the winner’s rights.
10. Copyright and image licence
Entrants retain copyright in their photographs.
By entering, participants confirm that they own the copyright to their submitted image, that it is their original work and that they have the necessary rights and permissions for the image to be considered for the competition.
The winning photographer will be asked to agree in writing to a licence permitting Luscombe Maye to use the winning photograph on the cover of the 2027 Tide Timetables and in agreed promotional activity relating to the competition and timetable.
The licence will set out the permitted uses, duration and any other agreed conditions. The photographer will be credited as agreed wherever reasonably practicable.
The Promoter will seek separate permission for uses outside the agreed licence.
Entering the competition does not transfer copyright to Luscombe Maye. Images from other entrants will not be used beyond administering, reviewing or promoting the competition without the relevant permission.
11. Use of entries and publicity
The Promoter may, with the entrant’s permission where required, showcase selected entries on its website or social media channels during or after the competition.
Any such use will respect the entrant’s copyright and be subject to the relevant permissions.
