Government Backs SME Builders to Get Britain Building

The UK government is introducing a package of reforms and financial support aimed at helping small and medium-sized housebuilders. These measures are part of the government’s broader “Plan for Change,” which targets the delivery of 1.5 million new homes over the next five years. The initiative seeks to address the shortfalls in meeting housing targets by simplifying planning processes, easing regulatory burdens, and providing enhanced financial backing to SME builders.

Matthew Minett our Head of Development Land and New Homes comments, “The government’s support for SME builders is an important step towards addressing the UK’s housing needs. By simplifying planning processes, providing financial backing, unlocking land for development, and investing in workforce training, these initiatives aim to empower smaller and medium sized builders to contribute more effectively to the housing supply. These measures not only support the construction of new homes but also promote economic growth, which we’re anticipating will benefit the South Hams and wider area”.
