Slurry Infrastructure Grant – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!!

A competitive grant is available in England to improve or expand your slurry storage capacity to 6 months based on existing livestock numbers, with the aim to improve the use of organic nutrients on farm, improve air quality and reduce pollution. The slurry infrastructure grant is available to help replace, build additional or expand existing slurry stores, and is applied for through a 2-stage application process.

Grant funded stores must be fitted with an impermeable cover, unless you’re installing a slurry bag or slurry is treated through an acidification process. The grant offers a fixed contribution towards stores to include tanks, lagoons and concrete stores as well as funding items necessary for the basic functioning of new or expanded slurry stores such as reception pits, slurry pumps and agitators.

Projects which have the greatest environmental benefit will be prioritised. We understand future opportunities to apply should arise if your project is not selected in the first round. The minimum grant you can apply for is £25,000 whilst the maximum grant is £250,000 for each applicant business.

Who Can Apply For The Slurry Infrastructure Grant

You will be eligible if your farming system already produces slurry, and you farm pigs, beef and/or dairy.

Both land owners and tenants can apply, but tenants must be able to confirm they have a tenancy agreement in place for the duration of the funding (5 years after the date of final payment), although you can still apply if your agreement is shorter than 5 years but you expect it to continue.

If you already have 6 months storage capacity or do not currently produce slurry, you will not be able to apply.
